If you are a female snowboarder you have probably realized that not just any snowboard will do. Women's snowboards are actually quite different from regular snowboards. The dimensions and specs are usually quite different. Here are some tips that will help guide you as you choose the right women's snowboard for you.

When you are looking to buy a snowboard the first thing you should look at is how wide the board is. This should be your number one concern because women normally have much smaller feet than men. If your board is to wide you wont be able to control the board as well or apply the pressure to the edges to make tighter turns.

Next, there are a few things to consider when it comes to both the length and the flex of the board.

How Do I Choose The Right Snowboard Length?

A good rule of thumb to go by is to take one and stand it up on its side in front of you, You want one that comes up to about your mouth.

If you plan to use a lot of parks and pipes, go for one that comes up to your chin.

If you are more of a free rider then you can get one that is as long as up to your eyes.

(If you are ordering a snowboard online simply take measurements from the floor up to these points so you can know what length you need.)

If you are a petite woman, get a board with a lot of flex, this is best for light riders.

Picking out the right snowboard is not terribly different than the process men need to go through. You want a narrower board to take in account for your smaller feet. Also go for a shorter board with greater flex.

Remember that you don't need to necessarily buy a board that is labeled for women. Just find a board with the right characteristics and you will do great.
